Overview

Suzanne is a partner in the firm's disputes and litigation team, helping clients arrive at the right solution to their issue, minimising impact and maximising success. She is supported by our extensive dispute resolution practice with a proven track record in the highest-profile cases and cross-border, multi-sector expertise.

She specialises in financial services and pensions disputes, including acting for employers, trustees and representative members of occupational pension schemes in applications to Court or before the Pensions Ombudsman, and for FCA-regulated pension providers, often working closely with our funds and financial services regulatory teams. 

Suzanne has experience of acting in pensions regulatory investigations and acts in significant professional negligence claims and judicial review cases relating to pensions.

Suzanne is a regular speaker at the Burges Salmon Pensions team's annual 'Hot Topics' seminars. She also presents at external seminars and conferences and enjoys delivering training to Pension Scheme Trustees.

Suzanne is a member of the Association of Pensions Lawyers and the Pensions Management Institute. Suzanne is recognised as an expert in pensions litigation in both the Legal 500 and Chambers legal directories.

She also has considerable experience acting for service providers in disability discrimination claims under the Equality Act 2010.

Suzanne is Chair of Burges Salmon’s Environment Committee, with responsibility for the firm’s environmental performance management including the firm’s commitment to be Net Zero by 2026. 

 

Experience
  • Acting for employers, trustees and representative members in claims relating to pension scheme documentation. Reaching pragmatic compromises in a number of those claims, providing value and benefitting all parties by avoiding the risks of a full trial.
  • Advising employer and trustee claimantson a high value professional negligence claim against their former actuarial and legal advisors.
  • Acting for the Trustees of the Silentnight pension scheme in the Judicial Review arising in pensions regulatory proceedings.
  • Advising an employer in a multi-employer industry wide scheme in relation to the contribution policies adopted by the Scheme Trustee.
  • Acting for claimants in a breach of trust claim against a Corporate Trustee in relation to the treatment of SIPP investments made in an off-shore development.
  • Advising a SIPP provider in relation to appeals against HMRC determinations in respect of in-specie contributions.
  • Representing a number of service providers in both the transport and retail sectors in Equality Act cases concerning reasonable adjustments required in the provision of goods and services.
