Douglas is an associate in the Planning and Compulsory Purchase team and specialises in matters relating to the consenting of major infrastructure projects, highways projects, compulsory purchase orders and due diligence across a number of sectors including renewable energy, nuclear, water and highways.
Douglas works predominantly on the promotion of development acting for local planning authorities, private and public developers working specifically on the promotion of nationally significant infrastructure projects in the highways and renewable energy sectors from initial strategic advice through to examination including advising on environmental impact assessment requirements.
More widely, Douglas regularly acts for landowners and developers in drafting and negotiating planning and highways agreements including s.106 and 278 agreements, often for renewable energy projects.
Douglas also regularly acts in the acquisition and disposal of energy, mixed use, and eco-tourism developments, advising on a broad spectrum of planning matters.
Douglas has a focus in Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG) and regularly speaks at conferences and provides training and advice for developers and local planning authorities in relation to this key emerging area.
